Red sand is not a common occurrence in Maine and I was delighted to discover such a place in Georgetown.  I began painting Red Sand Beach 9x12 Oil on linen on location in Indian Point while the rest of my family explored this hidden gem of a place.  The best vantage point was up high on a flat section of a giant boulder.  So I climbed up with my gear and got to work creating the view below.  My inspiration was to paint the pristine empty beach with its unusual color and a feeling of the day.
