Dinner for Two
Dinner for Two, 18x24 oil on linen will be on view Friday, August 9th, from 5-7pm at the opening reception for 'a place to be' in Brick Store Museum in Kennebunk, Maine. The solo show will feature my plein air and studio oil paintings about Maine and Florida. The exhibit ends Sept. 8th, 2019.
In Dinner for Two, 18x24" Oil on Linen, my intention was to explore ways I might portray a feeling of sentiment. How would I express a human emotion such as a 'sentimental thought' using oil paints? I pondered how I might possibly paint a work of art that gives a sense of peacefulness to the viewer? This line of thinking influenced the value and color choices I made and imparted a sense of softness to the painting. The idea that these sandpipers were friends, mates or family sharing a meal brought about nice feelings and I wanted to share that with others.
