Sunset, Kennebunk Rock, and Solo

Oaks Necks, Kennebunk
Oaks Necks, Kennebunk

My favorite rock in Kennebunk had been on my bucket list to paint since I first saw it many years ago. As a young adult, while pursuing my undergraduate degree in Art Education at the University of Southern Maine, I worked in the school's Geology Department. It was there that my great interest in how rocks form and their compositional makeup with unique colors and shapes took hold. Little did I know that this fascination with nature and the earth would be a life-long subject. In Oaks Neck, Kennebunk, 12x16 oil, I wanted to feature this boulder in a starring role. I was inspired to portray this sea eroded bedrock at the water's edge in the evening light. On view Friday, August 9th, from 5-7pm at the Brick Store Museum in Kennebunk, Maine. The opening reception for 'a place to be' will be in the Bauman Family Gallery. The solo show will feature my plein air and studio oil paintings about Maine and Florida. The 4-week exhibit runs until Sept. 8th, 2019.

Do I need a ticket to get in? Still planning on coming as long as family cooperates!!!

Nice to see you in line at the KRC show. Thanks for the reintroduction. Your paintings are the small slices of life others look at but do not see. You provide them with a more in depth viewpoint. I'll be going to your showing this week coming up. Thanks for sharing. If you ever have a group headed out to plein air paint I would be interested in tagging along. Rocks have become an obstacle of sorts for me to climb due to some old leg injuries. I otherwise can get around without trouble.
