Lowdermilk, a public beachfront park in Naples, Florida is usually a very busy place. It has a wonderful little duck pond and concession stand besides the amazing white sand beach. I arrived early before the crowds and selected my painting location knowing that it would soon be hot and crowded. The Florida sun is very intense so I tucked into a little shaded area on the side of the boardwalk. I loved the view which suggested a path leading to the near empty beach. When I began painting, only two people were on the beach relaxing. It felt like a perfect vacation or day of rest. By the end of the painting session, it was crowded but I had already decided the painting would be about a near empty beach which looked more inviting than a busy one. In Chillin 12x16 Oil on Gessobord, I worked to express my feelings about the relaxation part of spending time on a beach.
