Dianna painted Mañana Point during a week long painting trip to Monhegan Island, Maine. "It was a cold and mostly cloudy day on the island but towards the end of my painting session, a bright line of clouds formed in the sky.  Even on a less than warm day, the colors and shadows are interesting to me." Dianna wanted to paint the scene so the viewer would get a sense of the weather on the island. She wanted to portray that even though a coat was needed to go outside that day, the quiet beauty of the afternoon was still readily apparent.
