Brick Store Museum 'Perspectives' 2020 Bicentennial Exhibition

Unitarian Universalist Church of Kennebunk on an August evening

Before me was the Unitarian Church of Kennebunk with dramatic clouds as a backdrop depicting the last light of an August day.

I was trying to express a momentary effect and my reactions to it, so I reflected on "What are some ways I might create an oil painting about the church steeple, without making it just a portrait of the subject?"

When my thoughts were being developed for this piece, COVID-19 was just a whisper. Throughout the creation of this painting, with the pandemic raging the world, I thought creating an uplifting piece of artwork was apropos.

This painting and the work of 50 artists will be on view at the Brick Store Museum 'Perspectives' 2020 Bicentennial Exhibition currently scheduled to open June 24, 2020. The show runs through December 2020. With the pandemic altering many plans, that may change. Stay tuned for updates.
