I was happy to be Plein air painting on Monhegan Island once again. Situated ten miles out in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Maine, this small, rocky island is a magnet for artists. Standing on the hill looking down at the scene, I was inspired to portray the brightness of the sunflowers growing behind the Barnacle store.  The flowers in the building's foreground and the sea in the background intrigued me to express the beauty and calm feeling of the moment.
