The Eastern shoreline of New England is lined with step-like rocks going down into the water. This rough and rugged Maine coast, having endured crashing waves for Millenia, has always intrigued me. My intention for this painting was to illustrate the beauty of the rocks in the morning light as the tide rolls out.
