I painted Indian Point, Georgetown on location in Maine.  This spot is near the mouth of the Kennebec River and the entrance to Sagadahoc Bay is around the bend. The unusual light encouraged me to try a different way of painting. I wanted a more direct approach, one without a preliminary drawing, block-in or use of thinner or medium. Painting with this technique seemed like fun so I painted it free-style. Trying to be expressive, I used straight juicy oil paint to depict the soft light and subtle colors that danced before me.
