I am pleased and honored to have my plein air painting White Rock Promontory, 12x16 oil jury into the 91st Grand National Exhibition. The show will be held at the Salmagundi Club in New York City and is on view from Monday, November 11th - Friday, November 22nd, 2019.

The opening reception is Sunday, November 17th, 1:00 pm — 4:00 pm with an Awards Presentation at 2:00 pm. If you are in New York City during the show, stop by to see this wonderful exhibition filled with fabulous works of fine art.

High Tide Nocturne, 6x8" oil on Gessobord, was created one night during a plein air painting session while I was on vacation in Georgetown, Maine. The deck on the cottage was perched over the ocean and provided the perfect location to paint the moon shimmering on the water. The light from the house highlighted my palette making it easier to see what I was doing. My future will include buying an easel light so I can have the freedom to paint without the aid of a lit building. In this nocturne, I was interested in expressing the evocative nighttime tonal harmonies in the cooler color range, the pink haze I saw around the moon and shimmering Atlantic Ocean. With so much water in my view, I loved the idea of a safe haven across the bay.
